Electric Vehicles

Beginning October 1, 2010, customers may apply and take advantage of Hawaiian Electric companies' Electric Vehicle (EV) Pilot Rates. The EV pilot rates will be open to 1,000 customers on Oahu, 300 in Maui County, and 300 on Hawaii Island for charging highway-capable, four-wheeled electric vehicles.  The pilot will be in effect for three years.  All EV rates are time-of-use (TOU), in which the rate is dependent upon when the electricity is consumed.  Rates are designed to encourage early adoption of electric vehicles and incentivize customers to charge EVs during off-peak times of the day to avoid increasing on-peak demand.

Maui EV Charing Rates:

    •  Schedule Residential TOU EV (residential whole house meter)
    •  Schedule EV-R (residential-separate meter for EV charging only)
    •  Schedule EV-C (commercial-separate meter for EV charging only)

Molokai EV Charing Rates:

    •  Schedule Residential TOU EV (residential whole house meter)
    •  Schedule EV-R (residential-separate meter for EV charging only)
    •  Schedule EV-C (commercial-separate meter for EV charging only)

Lanai EV Charing Rates:

    •  Schedule Residential TOU EV (residential whole house meter)
    •  Schedule EV-R (residential-separate meter for EV charging only)
    •  Schedule EV-C (commercial-separate meter for EV charging only)

*NOTE: Customers may enroll in the optional EV Charging Rate or remain on their existing rate.
