Kahuku High School is the ninth school on Oahu to receive a Sun Power for Schools photovoltaic (PV) system. Installed on the rooftop of the cafeteria building on October 25, 2000, this system produces AC current directly from each panel.
- Two kilowatts (kW) rated peak
- Eight 4 x 6 foot AC modules weighing 122 pounds each (Manufacturer: Ascension, Type: SunSine 300)
- AC disconnection switch
- Ascension SunSine integrated inverter on each module (AC output from each module)
- Data acquisition system (Data collection can be monitored and analyzed by students as part of integrated renewable energy lessons.)
Students investigate one of the PV panels of the 2 kW Kahuku High School system.
