Arbor Day

Our thanks go out to the Kaulunani Urban and Community Forestry Program, Urban Garden Center, Wahiawa Botanical Garden, and Waimea Valley who are our partners in this annual event held in November that promotes the environmental benefits provided by trees.  Since 1993, Hawaiian Electric has sponsored the free tree giveaway as part of the Arbor Day celebration in Hawaii.  Over that time, more than 25,000 trees and native plants have been given away, helping to reduce 536 tons of carbon dioxide, the equivalent to burning 1,133 barrels of oil.
