If you want to learn how you can save money and electricity, start by taking inventory of your household's energy use. Click on the Home Energy Saver link, a web-based home energy audit, found below:
Home Energy Saver
The Home Energy Saver was the first internet-based tool for calculating energy use in residential buildings. Complete the quick or detailed version to get tips for saving energy and money. This tool is developed and maintained by the U.S. Department of Energy's Lawrence Berkeley National Laboratory.
Please note, there is a known issue with this site caused by setting both the heating system and the cooling systems to none. A temporary work-around is to enter a minimum system in either category, then ignore the specific energy/cost estimate. For example, you could enter a room air conditioner and disregard that category when you receive the results customized for your home.
